Traumas, both physical and mental, require careful treatment. However, while we have a whole toolkit of medical treatments and approaches for physical injuries, invisible mental pain is often much harder to relieve. The young protagonists of Beautiful Something Left Behind are brought together by grief: these children have lost their parents and are left alone with their pain. But at the same time, they are brought together by the centre where they are staying, Good Grief in New Jersey, which helps them cope with mourning.
The filmmaker Katrine Philp and film critic Anna Datsiuk will talk about the intimate documentation of a difficult story, about contemplation, and about how children can become teachers for adults

Katrine graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2009 with her award-winning short documentary Book of Miri. She won the Audience Award at the American Documentary Film Festival in 2014 for her debut feature documentary Dance for Me. The film was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2015. She co-founded the production company Good Company Pictures in 2014. While filming Beautiful Something Left Behind, Philp worked through the grief of losing her own father.
