Krzysztof Kieślowski created a portrait of Łódź, where he studied at a film school in the ‘60s. A portrait full of interesting observations and humour. A city in which contrasts intertwine to form an integral whole appears on the screen. Exhausted textile factory workers, residents on a Sunday stroll, Edward Ciuksza’s famous Mandolin Orchestra, old high-rises, and new skyscrapers tell us how the old city is evolving.

The films in the second Krzysztof Kieślowski: a documentary biography part of the Kieślowski retrospective are available for watching only together, without a break between them.
