According to different sources, over 300,000 people in Ukraine use injection drugs. Drug addiction is a problem which becomes a tragedy for both the user and their family. The families of injection drug users face discrimination and stigmatization, lack of effective public policy on helping drug addicts and their families. Isolated social initiatives do not solve all the problems. And the statistics of the number of injection drug addicts shows that to solve this problem, we need a complex approach.

In this conversation, we will discuss why family support is needed by injection drug users; what kind of government support drug users and their families can expect; and what practices exist to protect the human rights of the families of drug users.

The discussion accompanies the screening of Petit Samedi as a part of the 18th Travelling Docudays UA.
