DOCU/WORLD International competition
Love & Stuff
The filmmaker Judith Helfand helped her terminally ill mother to ‘rest in peace’ at a residential hospice. Seven months later, she becomes a mother herself and decides to sort out dozens of boxes of family belongings, to free up some space for a kid’s room. Love & Stuff is a first-person narrative based on 25 years of family archives. Judith tries to understand how parenthood changes a person and explores the attachment to ‘stuff’ which is passed down through generations.
