In Shadowlands, the filmmaker Anna Johansson explores her own relationship with an anxiety disorder. She depicts a black bird, the embodiment of internal darkness. It bears constant fear and anticipation of something horrible. At the same time, this is a film about recognition and the desire to escape loneliness.
