Ukraine is preparing for the hardest winter since it reclaimed its independence. It will not be as warm in our homes anymore as it was just last year. And many of our fellow citizens in towns where it will be impossible to provide central heating will have to take care of heating their homes on their own. It will not be hot in Europe either. The reduced consumption of Russian gas made Europeans dial down their heaters. But it is only the tip of the iceberg. Cutting trees to stock up on wood, burning coal, peat, etc. can have environmental consequences. In this conversation, we will discuss how the full-scale war is changing the environmental trends in Ukraine and around the world and how the new energy reality will change the everyday lives and habits of Ukrainians.
We recommend you to watch the documentary The Last Generation (dir. by Mikołaj Borowy) from the programme of the 19th Travelling Docudays UA Festival.
